
Gera Vaz – President
For more than 25 years, Gera has led results-oriented human resources teams that have delivered best-in-class services throughout U.S., Europe and Asia. As the chief HR officer at two major law firms, Gera directed implementation of best practices that resulted in both firms being named to Fortune Magazine’s “Top 100 Companies to Work For.” As executive director of the U.S. offices for Orrick, Gera also oversaw the firm’s U.S.-based office administrators. In this role, she directed office operation strategy, financial management, staffing ratios and facilitation of communication among administrative departments. She led a cross-functional team in examining attorney support and the role of the legal secretary. Prior to joining the legal services industry, Gera was vice president of human resources for a multistate, $900 million home electronics retailer where she managed a staff of 50 professionals for the 77-store, 4,500 employee corporation.

Holly Seaton, Ph. D. – Vice President
Holly Seaton, Ph.D. is past president of the Vintage House board. She has been in leadership positions starting early in her career as one of the first nurse practitioners in California. She has a deep and rich background in behavioral healthcare, education, and consulting psychology. Teaching at the university level, authoring cutting edge papers in women’s healthcare, and keynote speaking, she has greatly influenced her professions. As the vice-president of a leadership development company, she facilitated the leadership growth of entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and executives in Fortune 500 companies. Holly served as coach and facilitator for the La Luz Latino leadership program, served as a Rotarian for 17 years and continues to hold advisory positions in behavioral healthcare. She is a passionate supporter of the Vintage House role in cultivating an active and thriving aging process.

Kevin Austin – Treasurer
Kevin Austin has rejoined the Board of Directors for a second term, and brings entrepreneurial skills from a career in business, fulfillment, and printed products. He founded and grew Golden Pacific Systems for 38 years, retiring in 2013.
Kevin is an avid golfer, travels far and wide, and is frequently sous chef to his wife Kay, who is a Soup Chef at Vintage House on a regular basis. They entertain often and well.
Kevin and Kay have been in Sonoma Valley for close to 50 years and are passionate about giving back to the community that has given them so much. Kevin rejoins the Board to share his experience, knowledge and skill set with Vintage House, and we are delighted to welcome him back.

Gary Richards – Secretary
Throughout his 43-year career in education, Gary served in school districts in California and Connecticut. He was a teacher, a high school principal and in his last 27 years of service, the superintendent of schools in four high achieving school systems. During this time, he also worked as an adjunct instructor in the University of Southern California’s School of Education doctoral program. Following his retirement, he was an Associate at Hazard, Attea and Young, a national educational search firm specializing in public school superintendent searches. His wife, Sheridan is actively involved in the Sonoma Newcomers Club, and has become a member of Impact 100. They have three adult daughters, and eight grandchildren who live in Sonoma, Upper Arlington Ohio and Phoenix, Arizona.
Gary is proud to be a member of Vintage House and excited about its mission to encourage active living, support and learning for the 55+ members of our community. He truly enjoys serving as a volunteer driver for the Vintage House MyRide Progam.

Lorraine Ashton, Ph. D.
Lorraine Ashton has been a Clinical Psychologist for over 40 years specializing in families, couples and seniors. Lorraine retired as a Psychology Professor from JFK University where she was Director of Clinical Training and Asst Director of the Doctoral program. As Director of Training for masters and doctoral students, she developed a school-based counseling program, a community-based therapy center and a state-of-the-art training center for graduate students. During her 20 years in Sonoma, Lorraine became a founding member of Impact100 Sonoma, serving on their Board of Directors as Community Grants Chair; was President of the Board of Directors for Teen Services Sonoma; facilitated the Board Presidents Council of Nonprofits in Sonoma Valley; ran grief groups for the WillMar Center; and volunteered for SOS and Seeds of Learning. Lorraine currently serves on the Board of Directors for Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) a homeless youth program in Santa Rosa. In her personal life, Lorraine enjoys time with family and friends, practices Buddhism; and loves her life of international travel.

Paul Chakmak
Paul joined the Vintage House Board in 2019 and served as Treasurer before becoming President in January 2020. Paul has served as a consultant to operators and investors in the gaming, lodging, and leisure industries since 2014. Previously, he was executive vice president and COO for Boyd Gaming Corp. and a senior member of CIBC World Markets’ West Coast leveraged finance group. Paul has more than 18 years of experience in investment banking, specializing in structuring, underwriting, and distributing senior debt and high-yield financing, and in providing financial advisory services. He has served on the board of advisory directors of the Southern Nevada market for U.S. Bank and on the board of directors for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and chaired its audit committee. He also served as vice chair of the Nevada Resort Association and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus improvement authority board. Paul has a double B.A. degree in economics and political science from Claremont McKenna College.

Jeanne Grove
Jeanne Grove is a Managing Partner of Kaufman, Dolowich, Voluck, LLP, a national law firm with over 200 attorneys across 16 offices throughout the country and approximately 25 different practice areas. Jeanne manages the Sonoma office and chairs the Real Estate Practice Group. Her main focus is HOA’s, purchase/sale disputes, boundary/title issues, and construction matters. She is also a licensed real estate broker.
Jeanne has advocated for diversity in the legal profession throughout her career. In 2017, she received the Minority Bar Coalition Unity Award for her work advancing the cause of diversity in the legal community. In 2013, she received the California State Bar Real Property Section Morning Star Award for her leadership in real estate law. Jeanne has an extensive history as a volunteer and board member for various nonprofit organizations, including those that have served the needs of Filipino American World War II veterans, provided free legal services for low-income clients in San Francisco, and delivered meals for new mothers in need.
Jeanne lives in Sonoma County with her husband and two boys. During her “off” hours, she serves as PTA President for her kids’ school. Jeanne always prefers to be outdoors – hiking, running, or camping.

Hewitt Jackson
Prior to moving to Sonoma in 2015, Hewitt taught middle and high school students in Marin County for 13 years. His subject areas were history, cultural studies, internet and social media literacy, and social emotional learning. Prior to teaching, he had an extensive career in the technology, publishing, and entertainment travel management industries, specializing in conference, trade show and event development, marketing, and management. Hewitt and his wife have volunteered at several Sonoma nonprofits, including Friends In Sonoma Helping (FISH), Teen Services Ready to Work Program, Senior Project Judging at Sonoma Valley High School, and the Sonoma International Film Festival. He loves the casual, outdoor lifestyle that Sonoma offers and enjoys walking, biking, and exploring the Valley. Hewitt holds a humanities and cultural studies degree from Dominican University of California in San Rafael, Calif.

Bonnie Walner
Bonnie taught special education for 24 years in Chicago, San Francisco, and Marin County. She currently works as an interior designer and landscape designer, a profession she has loved for 23 years. She was published in “California Home and Design Magazine” for a home she created in Tiburon. When it came time to redesign Vintage House, Bonnie was hired to create a new and comfortable space and was responsible for all the new furniture in the reception area, paint colors, carpeting, window coverings, and lighting. She is an active member of the Sonoma Newcomer’s Club and the Mentoring Alliance. She plays bocce ball, tennis, and pickleball. She is also a master gardener and on the advisory board of the Sonoma Garden Park.

Richard N. Pollack, FAIA, FIIDA
As Founder and CEO of Pollack Architecture, with offices in San Francisco and LA, Richard Pollack built a solid foundation for the practice renowned for designing workplaces that transform the way that people work. In 2011 he sold his firm and moved on to his newest endeavor, Pollack Consulting – a consulting firm for the Design, Construction & Real Estate professions.
One of only a handful of people to ever be elected by his peers to both the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Richard is an experienced statesman of commercial interior architecture. A sought-after futurist, he has spoken to groups including: AIA (he is past National Chair of the Interiors Committee); IIDA (he is past international president); lecturer at California College of the Arts (CCA); and CoreNet Global. His awards include IIDA’s Leadership Award of Excellence and CoreNet’s Service Provider of the Year.
Richard studied engineering at Rensselaer and earned a B.Arch degree from Pratt. Richard is a licensed architect in multiple states, is a past board member of the Architectural Foundation of San Francisco and the Corporate Advisory Board of After School All Stars. A recent focus was serving as a mentor of high school age boys at Hanna Boys Center, and he currently serves on the Vintage House Building & Grounds and Development committees.
